Grease around 6-8 inch round baking dish with oil or butter.
In a deep bowl beat well butter, sugar and vanilla essence with the help of hand mixer until smooth.
(It may take approx 7-8 minutes on medium speed.)
Now take all dry ingredients (Maida, Milk Powder, Salt, Baking Soda and Baking Powder) in a bowl and sift all together 3 times.
(This will help incorporate air inside the flour)
Now add around 1 cup of dry mixture in to butter and sugar mix and beat well on low speed.
Add all left dry ingredients and beat well on medium speed.
(It may look like bread crumbs)
Now add milk in small batches and beat well on high speed to ribbon consistency.
Pour the mix in a greased pan immediately and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30 minutes.
Check with the help of knife or tooth pick, if not baked keep it for another 5 minutes and check again.
When done let it cool down for 5 minutes and remove from the baking pan and allow it cooled down completely on wired rack.
Cut only when it is cooled completely.
Serve like this or You may decorate in your own way.

Recipe Notes
Make sure your baking powder is not too old otherwise cake will not rise well.
It is advised to sift all the dry ingredients together for 2-3 times for fluffy and soft result, as it helps to incorporate air in batter.
Keep the preheated oven and greased baking dish ready before proceeding for cake.
Pour cake better immediately in baking pan and pan in the preheated oven.
Do not let cake batter stand outside of oven for long, it may result hard cake.
Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before use.
